it was an average saturday afternoon. not particularly cloudy, yet not particularly sunny; it wasn't hot, yet very few would call it cool.

isaac was just an ordinary boy. he lived in a small house with his mother and father, two sisters, a dog, and three unwelcome rats.

you might think that on such an ordinary day it would be impossible for the life of an ordinary boy to be drastically changed. if that is what you think, i am obligated to inform you that you are wrong.

on particularly boring days, isaac enjoyed walking through the fields near his house. this day was no exception. now today happened to be a particularly boring day, so he ventured further than usual, and came upon an old fire pit.

the fire pit, like most everything you have read about so far, was just an ordinary fire pit. however, peaking out of the center of this ordinary firepit was buried somthing that caught isaac's attention - it was an old trunk.

isaac ran back to his home and grabbed a shovel, then back to the fire pit to dig out the mysterious trunk. he was suprised to find that it was quite heavy.

"i wonder what might be inside," thought isaac.

when he finally got it out, he dragged the trunk back to his house and put it in his room.

just as he set it down, he heard his mother calling.

"isaac, it is time for dinner. stop whatever nonsense you are doing and get cleaned up," she called.

"yes mother, i'm coming," sighed isaac, knowing full well the consequenses of disobeying his mother.

he turned to leave the room. he gave one last glance back at the trunk.

all at once, the room was filled with light. the trunk had flung open. frightening images dashed around the room. isaac fell to the floor.

"what in the world?!?" cried isaac, shocked and afraid.

not knowing what else to do, he dashed toward the trunk and slammed it shut. his heart pounding, he dragged the trunk as fast as he could and buried it again in the same spot he found it.
